6 Egyptian women qualify for the semi-finals of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup in Cairo

 

6 Egyptian players qualified for the semi-finals of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup, the first World Cup series tournament for the current season, which Egypt is hosting from February 25 to March 1 at the American University in New Cairo.

Egypt qualified with full marks for the semi-finals, as the maximum number of players per country is 6.
Farida Abu Hashem, Malak Ismail and Sara Mohamed qualified from the first group of the qualifiers, and "Farida" topped the group with 1432 points, while "Sara" achieved 1369 points in third place in the group, and "Malak" came in eighth place in the group with 1329 points.

From the second group of the qualifiers, the trio "Jana El Gendy, Zeina Amer and Jana Attia" qualified after occupying the first three places respectively with 1386 points, 1381 points and 1371 points.

According to the International Federation's law, any team is entitled to participate with only 6 players in the semi-finals of the tournament.

This tournament is the first World Cup series tournament of the season, with the participation of 450 male and female players. It is also the first adult tournament to witness the application of the obstacle system instead of equestrianism, which was cancelled after the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The men's individual qualifiers will start tomorrow morning, Wednesday, with the Egyptian national team participating in the tournament with a full team of 12 players, given that it is the host country for the competitions. The list of players includes "Mohand Shaaban, Moataz Wael, Mohamed Hossam, Osama Zaki, Mustafa Abu Amer, Omar Amer, Mohamed Hatem, Ahmed Osama Abdel Hamid, Mazen Shaaban, Saif Suleiman, Ali Ihab and Mohamed Tamer".

This morning, the press conference for the tournament was held in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Rob Stoll, President of the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, Engineer Sherif El-Erian, President of the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation and Vice President of the International Federation, Ismail Moussa, President of the North African Modern Pentathlon Federation, and Olympic champion Ahmed El-Gendy, gold medalist at the Games The Olympics in Paris, on the sidelines of the Sports Expo conference, which is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic.
